Just a minor heads-up: autotrader.com is a U.S. based website so while the five reasons apply to every market where the GLA is present, they will make most sense to people living in North America. 5 reasons to buy a Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 according to Autotrader.com

If you’re the lazy… no, the intellectual type who prefers to read instead of watching videos (for the rest of us, you can find the embedded clip lower down the page), but you’re still curios to see what autotrader.com thought were the five reasons why you should get a Mercedes-Benz GLA 250, here they are.

#1 Reasonably priced

The GLA stands on the same platform as the CLA sedan (and a host of other compact Mercedes-Benz models, as this comparison of our own shows) and that means it has similar pricing – they say a Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 costs well under 35.000 dollars which is, indeed, quite a low price for a Mercedes-Benz, especially for a pretty well equipped one.

#2 Impressive MPG

The Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 comes with front wheel drive as standard which helps it achieve a more than decent miles per gallon figure: 25 mpg for the urban cycle and 35 for highway. With the optional 4MATIC four wheel drive system the fuel economy isn’t hurt that bad: it’s 24 mpg inside cities and 32 on the freeways. For an European used to diesel figures, that may not sound like a lot but bear in mind the Americans are still getting used to in-line four cylinder turbo engines and their perks.

#3 Upscale interior

It may be small, but it’s still a Mercedes-Benz so the interior of the GLA 250 looks quite nice with high quality materials and comfort features like power seats and the COMAND infotainment system. Being a crossover it’s also very practical with a high volume cargo space and very wide access. After all, it may be a Mercedes-Benz, but it will most likely have to do some work every now and then.

#4 Great performance

Again, the turbo engine proves surprisingly potent helping the Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 reach 60 mph in just 7.1 seconds thanks to its 208 hp and 258 lb ft. That’s 210 PS and 350 Nm for all you eyebrow raising Europeans.

#5 Sporty driving feel

Just like #1, it’s useful to remember it sits on the same platform as the sportier CLA (or A-Class) so its dynamic characteristics should come as little surprise. Even though not by much, the GLA is still a bit taller and the ground clearance is greater than the sedan’s, but that’s not something that becomes instantly obvious once behind the wheel. The GLA is more of a tall hatchback than a proper SUV/crossover and it drives accordingly.
