A very rare Mercedes 560 SEC AMG Widebody is for sale on EBay in Springfield, Virginia.
In 1999, Mercedes acquired a majority of 51% of the AMG company, founded by Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Mehler. Later, in 2005, Mercedes bought the rest of shares and today AMG (Mercedes-AMG) is a 100% subsidiary of Mercedes.
Before 1999, AMG made some very exclusive cars and one of these is a wide version of the Mercedes 560 SEC AMG 6.0 who intent to compete with rivals from Brabus and Gemballa. In adition to the body kit, AMG modified also the engine. Instead of the 5.6 liter V8 with 279 HP (with catalytic converter), we found under the hood a 6.0 litre V8 with 385 HP and 566 Nm available from 4,000 rpm. Produced in 1990, 560 SEC AMG 6.0 accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 6 seconds and reach a top speed of 285 km/h. Both values were very impressive for that time. Also the price was very impressive: 385,000 DM. Only few units were built.
The same V8 6.0 litre engine was used in the only 45 units of Mercedes E 60 AMG based on the Mercedes E 500.
Mercedes 560 SEC AMG 6.0 is now for sale in Springfield, Virginia and the asking price on EBay is 90,099 USD or about 81,000 euros.
