The most powerful S-Class these days is the S 65 AMG L, that delivers an egocentric 630 PS power and a terrific 1.000 Nm torque, thanks to it’s V12 with turbo technology. But that doesn’t mean you shold be “ashamed” of your S 63 AMG, because IMSA tuner has an interesting solution.
First of all, the AMG front apron is restyled by IMSA, so that the S-Class looks meaner. Consequently, the star has dissapeared, so now the black limo looks more like an undercover mob mean of transportation… Next, IMSA added new side skirts and a rear diffuser, all of these manufactured from carbon fibre.
The new wheels are huge: 21 inch and 10-double-spoke design, with 225/35 R 21 in the front and 295/30 R 21 tyres in the back. And let’s not forget the special tailpipes, machined from a solid block of aircraft-grade aluminium. So now we can say that the black beast is more ferocious than an S 65 AMG?
Not just yet, because IMSA also upgraded the 5.5 litre twin-turbocharged V8 of the S 63 AMG. The power is now increased from 585 PS to 720 PS, which means this car is 90 PS more powerful than the S 65 AMG. Things get better, because the maximum torque of S 63 AMG has also been increased from 900 Nm to 1.080 Nm, that is 80 Nm over the 1.000 Nm of the S 65 AMG.
So now we’re getting somewhere, and we’re doing it very fast: the IMSA S 63 AMG only needs 4.0 seconds for 0-100 km/h, which is 0,3 seconds faster than the S 65 AMG. And at the same level with the all new Mercedes-AMG GT. So, whatever the price of IMSA work, we think it’s worth for those who feel frustrated related to S 65 AMG…
