Not all of us are good at drifting. Some of us are actually terrible at it. This driver included. With his new Mercedes-AMG C63 he ended up hitting a tree, exactly when he wanted to show off.

Rebranded with a “GT” and a “5.0” badges, imitating the American muscle car, Ford Mustang, the Mercedes-AMG C63 seemed to have everything required to stand proud regardless of the manouvers of the driver.

The crash took place in Rotterdam, Netherlands, during the “100% Autolive” event. Now the driver is lucky to be alive.

The man behind the steering wheel was already leaving the event, when he decided to make one more demonstration of his abilities. But they failed him exactly when he wanted to show off in front of the cameras. The wrong move sent him directly into a tree, with pieces of the car flying off.

Most likely, right before the failed drift attempt, the driver had deactivated the ESP for what ended up to be – in a split second – a great embarrassment.

The car is originally powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 enngine that develops 510 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. The driver must have learned his lesson well: money can’t buy skills, but they can surely get an AMG in your driveway. One that is inches away from being declared a write off. The Mercedes was carried away by a tow truck.
