Nobody likes noisy hitchhikers, right? Getting in the rear seat and talking too much, being too curious or making weird sounds. And we’re not talking about snoring. Mercedes is advertising the Concept EQ saying goodbye to noise.
A 40-second video shows the electro-looking Concept EQ and the two occupants onboard. The one sitting in the rear seats makes engine noises, something that you would not expect from an electric car. The driver though prefers silence. Therefore, he points his finger at his passenger, pulls over and lets him in the middle of the road.
“Goodbye, noise, hello, electric” is the slogan accompanying the short film with the Concept EQ as the main character. The prototype was first shown at the Paris Motor Show in 2016 and its name stands for “Electric Intelligence”. Concept EQ previews the first model of the Mercedes-Benz new electric family, the EQC. The second one will be the compact EQA, for the manufacturing of which Mercedes has already invested half a million dollars in the company’s plant in France, where the smart electric family is already being produced.

The first fully electric series EQ, with a range of up to 500 kilometers (310 miles) isn’t only powerful, dynamic, sportive and intelligent, but also entirely noiseless. In short: The sound of tomorrow, says the premium carmaker.
The part of the hitchhiker is played by no other than the locally famous Australian beatboxer Daniel Jovanov, known in his native country as “Human Car Sounds”. As good as he is, being quiet imitates the close-to-production Concept EQ best.
