The years have passed and things have changed in terms of design and technology. But performance keeps its head up high throughout the years. Or has it upped the ante? We’ve got the Mercedes C63 AMG DTM and the Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO II DTM to cross the t’s.

The junior of the racing family, the Mercedes C63 AMG DTM, gets to meet its ancestor, the 1990-born Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO II DTM. The grandpa stopped after having collected 84 wins in 156 races, seasoned with ten driver’s championships and wrapped up in 13 constructors’ titles. Now it goes head to head with the C63 AMG DTM, based on the street-legal Mercedes-AMG C-Class Coupe. Acceleration, braking and handling are the tests they have to go through.

Racing driver Karl Wendlinger brings the classic and Maro Engel brings the rookie to to the racetrack. Will the rookie powered by a 4.0-liter V8 and a six-speed transmission struggle with the classic’s 2.5-liter 4-cylinder unit? Check out the video below to see the result of the new school versus new school battle.

Just so you can understand a bit more of the race, here are some interesting facts:

  • the 190E EVO II DTM has no buttons on the steering wheel, the other has ten of them.
