Infiniti QX30 is coming closer to the series production. The compact SUV will use the Mercedes MFA platform and the proportions will be very similar with the Mercedes GLA.
The Infiniti QX30 compact SUV has been spied again. It will be built for global markets – including the U.S. and China – at Nissan’s factory in England, alongside the Infiniti Q30 hatchback.
Production of the Q30 hatchback – mainly targeted at the European market – will begin in mid-2015 with the QX30 SUV’s output starting shortly after. The QX30 will compete against the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
The Q30 and QX30 will share the Mercedes MFA platform and the 2.0 litre petrol and 2.2 litre diesel engines from Mercedes.
Virtually, the Infiniti Q30 and QX30 will have a lot of similarities with Mercedes A-Class and Mercedes GLA. Even the design of QX30 will share a lot of lines and proportions with Mercedes GLA. We can easily recognize the long bonnet, the high beltline, the small windows, the form of the C-pillar and the form of the rear part. The grille will be specific to the Infiniti brand but we expect the same interior with the floating display.

Both cars will play in the same liga. We have to see how much design differents will be between GLA and Infiniti. Technical platform is the same, engines are the same but this is not something that everybody realize. But if the exterior design and the interior will be very close than Infiniti will have a big problem. Anyway, Infiniti does not plan to sell too many cars. They sell now no more than 5,000 cars across Europe from all models. For them 10,000 QX30 could be a huge success.
