Mansory Builds Beasts, the Mercedes-AMG SL63 Is Not One of Them

Mansory has accustomed us to beastly machinery that leaves reality behind. They almost seem non-functional before the engine starts to roar. But they toned it down when it came to the Mercedes-AMG SL 63.

Maybe the tuners thought that the stock SL 63 ticks most of their boxes in terms of aggressive design. That’s why they must have refrained from doing a radical twist on it. So don’t expect anything outrageous this time.

The car got a new radiator grille in black and a totally revised front fascia. There are bigger air intakes there, in the company of a new front splitter. Out went the three-pointed star emblem supported by the vertical slats of the grille. The Mansory logo is in. The model received a new hood, and new mirror housing, and now runs on 22-inch wheels with a black finish.

A new air diffuser showed up at the rear. Mansory fitted a redesigned bumper and new quad pipes as well.

The tuning house wrapped the seats in white leather with quilted stitching, came up with matching white seatbelts, and put carbon fiber every here and there.

As you’d expect from Mansory, they don’t just do plastic surgeries on cars. They just can’t keep their hands off the engine bay. So this is what they got.

When it rolls off the assembly line in Affalterbach, the 4.0-liter V8-powered convertible sports 585 PS (577 HP) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. Mansory comes up with a kit that takes the AMG all the way to either 720 PS (710 HP) or 850 PS (838 HP), depending on the customer’s preferences. These are the figures that provide it with a run from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds and to a top speed of 332 km/h (206 mph).

No word on the pricing of the Mansory-tuned Mercedes-AMG SL 63. But those willing to make the move won’t probably find that issue restrictive.
