Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55 gets the party started. AMG celebrates 55 years since it became a brand by offering an exclusive custom version of the off-roader. The company promises more surprises in the upcoming months.

AMG saw the light of day as a two-man start-up back in 1967 with the iconic hand-built high-performance engines. It is the company that started the “One man, one engine” motto. Now AMG has more than 2,000 excellently qualified employees.

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55 will be available in obsidian black metallic and G manufaktur opalite white bright. It will come with 22-inch AMG forged wheels in a cross-spoke design with a matt tantalum grey paint finish and a high-sheen rim flange. It will also sport the AMG Night Package and the Night Package II. The fuel filler cap will be in silver chrome with AMG lettering.

There is an eye-catching contrast on board as well, with black and red nappa leather wrapping the seats and doors. The door sills show the AMG lettering illuminated in red. The black velour floor mats display the Edition 55 lettering in red. The same badge shows up on the steering wheel in Dinamica microfiber. The future owner will also enjoy the presence of AMG trim elements in matt carbon.

Those who order a Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55 will also get a customized AMG Indoor Car Cover made of breathable outer skin made of tear-resistant synthetic fiber fabric and antistatic inner fabric made of flannel.

How much extra money will the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55 cost?

The anniversary package comes with a surcharge of 17,850 euros. That would be a little over $19,675 in the United States.

The G-Class will take the electrification path for the next generation. Philipp Schimer, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG, says it will lose nothing of its original character. The G 63 now sports the 4.0-liter biturbo V8. The power unit delivers 585 PS (577 HP) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) to both axles via a nine-speed automatic transmission.
