Mercedes-AMG GT R fights the new kid in town, the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

The new kid in town, Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, challenged a veteran of the supercars segment, the Mercedes-AMG GT R. So here is how the toed the line, under the command of the Top Gear team.

The 585-horspower and 700-Newtonmeter Mercedes-AMG GT R, with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 underneath the bonnet accepted the challenge. The AMG escaped from the Green Hell of Nurburgring runs from zero to hero (62 mph or 100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds. Its speedometer stops at 339 km/h (211 mph)

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera comes with a 5.2-liter V12 that develops 715 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque, running from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds, to a top speed of 316 km/h (198 mph).

Both cars deliver power to the rear axle. We’re dealing with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission for the Aston Martin, while the GT R makes use of a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT dual clutch transmission.

On paper, the Mercedes-AMG GT R does not stand a chance in front of the Briton that seems to be eating tarmac for breakfast . Will it be any different on the racetrack? Watch the video below to find out!
