Mercedes AMG Petronas has made a grande finale of a grand season, one week after the curtain dropped over the Formula 1 stage, in Abu Dhabi. The whole team, led by the world champion Lewis Hamilton and runner-up Nico Rosberg, gathered up, where else but Stuttgart, to party together with 50,000 ecstatic fans.

The Silver Arrows set the track on fire in Stuttgart

No less than 64 classic and contemporary Silver Arrows have run along an 1.1 km improvised racetrack in Stuttgart, around the Mercedes-Benz Museum, in front of 50 000 people. Former and current drivers thrilled the spectators by performing demo laps and setting the track on fire. The oldest vehicle driven on the temporary track was the grand prix racing car from 1914 with which Mercedes managed a legendary triple triumph in France. The most modern one was the Silver Arrow that Lewis Hamilton competed with this past season.

“I never thought, in a million years, that I would receive such support. The reception from the fans was absolutely indescribable”, says Lewis Hamilton in bewilderment, one week after he was crowned world champion in Abu Dhabi.

Remember how Hamilton won the world title this season!

Nico Rosberg tooks selfies with the ecstatic fans during the open street celebration. “I’ve been inspired by the huge support from my fans around the world. It gave me extra strength yet again. I’ll be back on the offensive next year”, the German driver said.

The crowd went over the moon when the six SLRs, valued together at an outstanding 100 million euros worth, took the spotlight on the track.

In Stuttgart, Mercedes not only celebrated the constructers’ and drivers’ world title, but also 120 years of motorsport racing and 80 years of the Silver Arrows. Niki Lauda, together with those who made the triumph possible, took center stage.

Another world champion, the head coach of Germany’s national football team, Joachim Low, together with the manager Oliver Bierhoff, were spectators at the Mercedes street celebration. Stirling Moss was also present at the ball of the engines.
