Safety and comfort have always been paramount for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Such features will probably never change for the high-end saloon.
The cockpit of the new S (W223)seems as if it comes from a whole new dimension. From the classic solution with 12.3 inches, Mercedes migrated to the new 12.8-inch OLED central display, in combination with the floating 12.3-inch instrument cluster. The latter is positioned on the steering column, an innovative approach that the premium car maker went for.
The new S-Class comes with the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience), based on artificial intelligence and a 3D driver display. The head-up display comes with augmented reality functions.
Hard keys used to allow the control of the features of the 2013 S-Class W222. Mercedes-Benz dropped most of those, replacing them with touch controls.
Inside the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Active Multicontour Seats replace the former Multicontour ones, while the Rear Seat Comfort package comes instead of the Executive seating solution. The occupants in the rear now get their own tablets and massage functions, plus personal entertainment. Mercedes points out that the feature requires a separate account with a predetermined streamer provider and own data volume, such as smartphone hotspot.
Front airbags for the rear occupants make traveling safer.
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class generation receives flush-fitting handles with KEYLESS GO instead of the classic door handles.
The Digital Lights system substitutes the Full LED headlamps of the 2013 saloon.
Mercedes further accounts its latest creation with increased ride comfort and manoeuvrability, also due to the presence of the E-Active Body Control, that replaces the former Magic Body Control. Rear axle steering also makes the automobile easier do drive in tight spaces.
Remote Parking spares the driver of all the hustle of maneuvering the car in a tight parking space.
