Mercedes-AMG released a teaser-video showing the new AMG GLE 63 Coupe, one of the highlights of the 2015 North American International Auto Show, starting this very month in Detroit.

A possible AMG version of the new Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe was always on the table, even though until now it was only echoed by different rumors.

Mercedes-Benz decided to build a performance version based on the GLE Coupe and the model will debut at NAIAS, in Detroit. Touted as a rival for BMW X6 M, the GLE Coupe was given a more aggressive look, but nothing too exaggerated in comparison to its Bavarian competitor.

Since the video only reveals the aesthetic side of the new GLE 63 AMG Coupe, the engine that will work under the hood remains a mistery for now. All we can do is speculate that the best candidate for powering the SUV is the twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine coming from the AMG GT.

If that turns out to be correct, the GLE 63 AMG Coupe will benefit from 462 hp and 600 Nm. If an S version is to be taken into account, the performance figures rise to 510 hp and 650 Nm, similar to the AMG GT S.

We should probably find out more next week, when the GLE 63 AMG Coupe will debut in Detroit, at 2015 NAIAS.
