With the opportunity of the introduction of the new C 63 AMG, please take a look at all the former generations.

The ancestors of C-the Class AMG family are the 190 E 2.3-16 and 190 E 2.5 -16 with the legendary 4 cylinder with 4 valves per cylinder and the 190 E 3.2 AMG with the powerful six cylinder engine. At the start of the new C 63 AMG generation, take a look at the ancestors of the C-Class AMG family.

Then other five generations follow: the C 36 AMG, the C 43 AMG, the C 32 AMG, the C 55 AMG and the C 63 AMG.

The C 36 AMG (W202) was produced between 1993 and 1997 and it was powered by the normal aspirated 6 in-line cylinder with 3.6 litre (code name M 104) which developed  280 HP/5,750 rpm and 385 Nm (284 lb-ft)/4,000 rpm, using the HFM engine management system.

Based on the same generation, Mercedes changed the engine in 1997 from the 6 in-line to the V8. The new C 43 AMG also uses a normal aspirated engine. With 4.3 litre, the V8 (M113 E43 code name) delivered 306 HP and 410 Nm (302 lb-ft).

In 2001, Mercedes launched a new C-Class AMG generation based on the new C-Class (W203) generation. The new engine had a smaller displacement compared with his predecessor, but used a mechanical compressor made by IHI. The 3.2 litre supercharged V6 (M122 code name) delivered 354 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft)/4,400 rpm.

In 2003, Mercedes replaced this engine again with a V8 natural aspirated. The C55 AMG featured the big 5.4 litre V8, which delivered 360 HP.

In 2006, Mercedes launched the most powerful normal aspirated V8 in the world. The V8 with a displacement of 6.3 litres showed upin 2007, on the occassion of the AMG 40-year anniversary, under the bonnet of the new C 63 AMG (based on the W204). It delivers 457 HP and a peak torque of 600 Nm. In 2009, the AMG Performance Package Plus, offered as an option, raised the maximum output up to 487 HP.

In April 2011, Mercedes upgraded the C 63 AMG on the occassion of C the 63 AMG coupe launch. The same year, Mercedes presented the most powerful C-Class in history. The C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series delivered 517 HP and 620 Nm.

Last year, in April, Mercedes created the C 63 AMG „Edition 507”, with 19 inch wheels and high performance composite brake system. The V8 engine delivers 507 HP and 610 Nm.

In 2012, Mercedes sold almost 8,000  C 63 AMG units, the best commercial result in the model history. Altogether, with 40,000 units sold, the last generation C 63 AMG was the best selling AMG model.
