Mercedes continues the project they started with designer and architect Virgil Abloh, despite his sudden passing away in November 2021. A limited-edition Mercedes-Maybach S 680 comes to remind us of the collaboration.
The Mercedes-Maybach S 680 comes in exclusive company. It brings along a capsule matching clothing collection that Virgil Abloh designed in collaboration with famous streetwear label Off-White, before he passed away due to cancer. It happened just before the release of the Project Maybach x Virgil Abloh concept. Back then, it was a luxurious off-roader that was to inspire the version that is now right before our eyes.
The W223 Maybach carries over the paint scheme. The top half sports a glossy obsidian black, while a “Sand” hue covers the lower half. The 20-inch Maybach signature wheels are in the same shade. The “Sand” shows up on board as well, building up an exquisite ambiance. The updated and customized version of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) rounds off the high-tech architecture.
The Virgil Abloh logo adorns the piano-black center console, the head restraints and rear cushions, but also the door sills.
A 1/18 scale replica of the Mercedes-Maybach S 680 by Virgil Abloh, two car keys with a carabiner look and a car cover will be part of the offer.

Only 150 such units will see the light of day. No info on the pricing yet. But so far we know they will be available worldwide. And all of them will come with the 6.0-liter V12 engine.
“I’m incredibly proud of the work we have created in collaboration with Virgil. The limited-edition Maybach by Virgil Abloh exemplifies the symbiosis between innovative design and ultimate craftsmanship now available on the road,” says Gorden Wagener, Mercedes chief designer.
The late designer Virgil Abloh previously worked with Mercedes-Benz in 2020, for the Project Gelandewagen. That was back in September 2020.
