Mercedes is stepping on the throttle to get the new EQS SUV ready in time for its official reveal. The event will take place on April, 19th.
Mercedes has scheduled a digital world premiere for the luxury electric SUV that will carry over the name of the sedan. Those who can’t wait to see it can watch the event on the Mercedes me media platform and social media channels of the brand. YouTube, LinkedIn and Twitter will all broadcast the debut of the EV in less than two weeks’ time.
On April 19, at 12:00 p.m. (CEST), the CEO of the premium carmaker Ola Kallenius will be there to present the highlights of the new model. Mercedes-EQ experts will round up the presentation. Mercedes is sending it into the world to redefine the electric SUV segment.
The EQS SUV comes with the new EVA modular platform, specifically designed for the company’s premium and luxury electric cars. It is the third to get this architecture, following in the footsteps of the EQS and EQE sedans. Mercedes accounts it with a progressive design and unparalleled comfort for a high rider, but with the space and versatility that only SUVs can provide.
So far we know that it will get the 4MATIC all-wheel drive and smart off-road driving programs. It won’t be as capable as the future EQG when going off the tarmac though. Mercedes keeps all those unique abilities for the zero-emissions version of the iconic G-Class. The EQS will be available as a seven-seater. It remains to be seen how much of the booth the third row of seats will chop off.
The EQS SUV will come to ruin the party that BMW’s iX has thrown in the electric premium SUVs segment last year. Mercedes is also working on a EQE SUV.
