With the 3.0 litre V6 biturbo engine with power boosted to 401 HP, 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and rear biased AMG Performance 4Matic all wheel drive, the new Mercedes-AMG E 43 4Matic is the first performance stage of the E-Class estate.
With the help of two larger turbochargers and the higher charge-air pressure of 1.1 bar, the power of the 3.0 litre V6 biturbo engine was increased from 367 HP in other 43 AMG models to 401 HP in the new Mercedes-AMG E 43.
The evolution of the 3.0 litre V6 biturbo engine develops 401 HP at 6,100 rpm and 520 Nm from 2,500 rpm. The engine is mated with the new 9G-Tronic automatic transmission specially configured by Mercedes-AMG engineers for a more dynamic driving experience. In Sport and Sport Plus mode, the new software enables faster gear shifting than in Eco or Comfort mode. Besides the four modes, the driver can choose also the Individual mode.
Manual mode can be selected using a separate button in the centre console.
The sports suspension is based on Air Body Control air suspension and the damping characteristics can be preselected in three modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus.
The standard AMG Performance 4Matic all wheel drive features rear biased torque distribution with a front/rear axle split of 31 to 69%. The steering power is available in a choice of two modes – Comfort or Sport.
The E 43 4Matic is recognisable by the 19 inch AMG five twin spoke light alloy wheels painted in high gloss black, the diamond radiator grille with a single transverse louvre in high gloss black the sporty side sill panels and the two exhaust tailpipes in highly polished chrome while the roof spoiler is painted in the vehicle colour.
The interior is personalised by the upholstery in Artico leather/Dinamic microfibre in black with red stopstiching and the multifunction sport steering wheel in black nappa leather with area perforations offered as standard (the nappa leather with trim strips in Dinamica microfibre in black with red topstiching is optional). To match the seat design, the door centre panels and the dashboard are finished in ARTICO man-made leather with red topstitching. Aluminium sports pedals with black studs, a black roof lining and red seat belts add further sporty highlights.
The Widescreen cockpit with a high-resolution, multifunction double colour display can be individually configured and has its own AMG graphics. Numerous driving dynamics parameters can also be displayed here. In the AMG-specific control panel in the centre console, the driver is able to use separate keys to select the functions for manual transmission mode (Long-term M), AMG Ride Control adjusable damping and 3-stage ESP.
The new Mercedes-AMG E 43 4Matic Esate can be ordered from September 14, 2016 while the first deliveries will follow in December.
