An old school Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 is up for auction. The model rolled off the assembly line back in 2007.

This car that is up for auction at Bring a Trailer was sold new from Walter’s Mercedes-Benz in Riverside, California, to the current owner’s husband.

The car received a Crystal Antimony Grey paint finish. And it is – as the name suggests – one of the 722 such units that have ever been built. The car is for sale accompanied by the original documents. There is the owner’s manual among them.

The odometer of the 13-year old car reads 5,471 kilometers (3,400 miles).

Mercedes designed the SLR McLaren 722 as a tribute to the 300 SLR that Sir Stirling Moss won the famous Mille Milgia race with. Besides the silver finish, the model received a carbon fiber front splitter and a prominent rear air diffuser.

The Mercedes-Benz SLR is a classy brute on the road

The automobile runs on 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires of 255/35 at the front and 295/30 at the rear. It also received carbon ceramic brake discs and red brake calipers. A tuned suspension with stiffer springs and shock absorbers make sure that the car acts is every inch a brute on the road, yet makes no compromises in terms of daily driving.

Compared with the standard model, the 722 edition came with a 10-millimeter lower ground clearance.

Under the elongated and sculpted hood of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 there is a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine. It pumps out 650 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 820 Newton meters at 4,000 rpm. The unit delivers the resources towards the rear axle via a five-speed automatic transmission.

These figures make the SLR McLaren 722 accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, it took 10.2 seconds to reach 200 km/h and 27.6 seconds to go all the way to 300 km/h. The car hits 337 km/h.
