The older, the better. It’s not wine, it’s a Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet, put on sale by one of London’s most exclusive dealerships in the United Kingdom.

Only 68 right-hand drive units were built and this is one of them. The automobile has recently undergone a major restauration procedure in the Sleeping Beauties of Brisbane workshop. After interventions on its body, mechanics, upholstery and dashboard, the Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet is as good as new.

New it was 46 years ago, when the black car with red leather upholstery rolled out the factory lines. It was actually hand-built, back in 1970, five years after the model was introduced to fight the Rolls-Royce and Bentley Corniche cabriolets of those times.

Under the elongated elegant bonnet, the cabriolet shelters a 3.5-liter V8, coupled with a 4-speed floor-mounted automatic gearbox that would proudly keep it on the road at decent speeds even compared to today’s standards.

The black canvas top featuring six layers blocks the noise out, providing extra comfort onboard the exquisite cockpit of the four-seater. The Mercedes convertible also comes fitted with power steering, front headrests and power windows. The car is quite priceless, literally. The dealer only announces it upon request. So if you’ve got some extra money – lots of it, actually – here’s something you can buy.
