Why are you running upstairs? Isn’t the elevator working? These are the questions Nico Rosberg could have been asked by people meeting him on his way up. The Mercedes AMG Petronas driver went up the over 2000 steps of the 88-floors of one of the Petronas towers in Kuala Lumpur.
2170 steps up. This was Nico Rosberg’s training session during the week of the second race of the Formula 1 season in Sepang. The Mercedes driver, who’s taking his race preparation to a whole different level, was almost bound to give it up. The guardian of the building had no idea who he was and told him the building also has elevators. “No, I run”, Nico replied.
And “run” he did.
Nico seemed a bit rundown halfway up, but he eventually managed to go all the way. When the German reached the observation deck, near the top of the 1,483 feet (452 meter) structure, he decided it was totally worth it. The view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline, both by day and by night, is simply amazing.
The 88-floors Petronas towers in Kuala Lumpur were the tallest buildings in the world until 2004.
Nico Rosberg finished second in Australia, right behind his teammate Lewis Hamilton, and hopes they will be switching roles on Sunday in the Malaysia Grand Prix.
