Mercedes promotes new funny game Mario Kart 8 in a commercial for the Japanese market. The video shows an 8-bit Mario, cruising through the original Super Mario Bros level in the car, right before jumping to the super-realistic world and stepping out of the driver’s seat.
And what about the game? For the first time in the 22- year history of Mario Kart series launched back in 1992, cars from the real world are available and fans of the latest evolution Mario Kart 8 can download the 2014 three kart cars, free of charge, beginning with August 27th.
The three kart cars are: the legendary Silver Arrows from 1930s, the 300 SL Roadster from the 1950s and the new compact SUV GLA. August was also the starting day for the “Mercedes Cup”, an exclusive worldwide online tournament, in which Mario Kart 8 fans can compete against each other in races in the Mercedes karts. The “Mercedes Cup” races will end on September 23rd.
Mario Kart 8 has 32 courses of which 16 are completely new, while other 16 are revised versions from the earlier series. Up to 4 players can play the offline mode and up to 12 players can compete online against others from around the world. Mario Kart 8 is the eighth instalment of Mario Kart Series developed by Nintendo, and showed up in Europe for Wii U console on May 30th, 2014. More than 100 million Mario kart games have been sold in 22 years.
