Mercedes EQE was caught again in the winter tests before the world premiere this fall.
Mercedes EQE is the second model to be built on the EVA platform designed for Mercedes executive and luxury class models. This platform will be the basis for Mercedes EQS, EQE SUV and EQS SUV.
The new EQE will be presented at the end of 2021, one year before the new generation E-Class, and sales will start in 2022.
Mercedes EQE, codenamed V295, is now conducting a new winter test in which the car’s silhouette can be better seen.
It is confirmed again that EQE will not have a tailgate as is the case at EQS but will be a classic sedan with a separate trunk. Also, the third stop is located on the boot lid and not on the top of the rear window as in EQS.
Like the EQS, EQE will be available with rear and all-wheel drive and the range will be up to 600 km.
However, we expect that the large 107.8 kWh battery will not be available at EQE because it will have a lower range, up to 600 km compared to up to 770 km in the case of EQS. On the other hand, we are also expecting a battery smaller than the 90 kWh one that will be taken over from EQS and will probably be the largest battery available at EQE.
The EQE is shorter than an E-Class but it will provide interior space similar to that of an S-Class. Mercedes EQE will compete with the Tesla Model S to which it is closer in terms of size. Mercedes EQE will be built in factory 56 in Sindelfingen alongside EQS.
Mercedes will have over 10 electric models and 25 PHEV models by 2025 and by 2030 the number of electric models will exceed 20.
In 2030 the number of electric and PHEV models will exceed 50% of total sales.
