Mercedes-AMG GT is expanding its sporty family. The newborn bears the name of Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster and it comes to join the four coupes, the two roadsters, the two racing cars and the three 4-door coupes of the GT family.

A V8 biturbo engine with 522 horsepower and 670 Newton meters operates under the elongated robust hood of the new roadster fitted with a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G automatic transmission, with an electronic lock differential on the rear axle and with the AMG RIDE CONTROL sport suspension with adaptive damping control. By the switch in the center console, the one behind the steering wheel can make the transfer into three different modes, “Comfort”, “Sport” or “Sport+”.

The AMG GT S Roadster, as the S in the model designation shows, is more dynamic thanks to its engine mapping, to its breaking system, to its design and interior. It only takes 3.8 seconds to hit 100 km/h from a standstill and reaches a top speed of 308 km/h.

Five driving modes are available onboard the GT S Roadster: “C” (Comfort), “S” (Sport), S+ (Sport+) and “RACE”, but also a configurable “I” (Individual) setting. They all adjust the response of the sports suspension, of the steering, of the ESP and the position of the AMG Performance exhaust flap. By pressing the “M” button positioned in the center console, the driver can engage the manual transmission mode, in which he will make use of the gear shift paddles on the steering wheel for a more exciting experience.

The GT S Roadster is based on a lightweight intelligent architecture made of light materials, which provides it with an incredible performance.

The AMG-GT S Roadster is fitted with high-quality sound insulation, keeping the wind and tires noise outside, supported by a magnesium, steel aluminum structure.

The Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster looks breath-taking

The new member of the AMG-GT family gets the massive radiator grille, the elongated bonnet and, at the rear, the solid lines of its siblings, all of these features coming to guarantee the sports car reputation, while the LED lamps give it the necessary aggressive image. From the side, the Roadster gets an arched roofline and the frameless doors confirm its sporty nature. The car in a standard version runs on 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch wheels at the rear.

The air control AIRPANEL system is standard equipment for the GT S Roadster. The vertical louvers of the front apron open and close electronically, with the assistance of an electric motor, in approximately one second, to provide the necessary cooling. The rear tailwing is another active aerodynamics element making the car glue itself onto the road at high speed.

The driving position is so low that it makes the driver feel completely absorbed by the cockpit. The sports seats, the AMG Performance steering wheel and the dashboard are in black ARTICO leather/DINAMICA microfiber. Customers can also tick the box for one of the interior packages AMG Silver Chrome Interior and AMG Piano Lacquer Interior.

For further comfort, regardless of the temperatures outside, Mercedes-AMG fitted its high-performance roadster with the neck-heating system AIRSCARF, optionally available.

An AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package provides the drivers with even more freedom in customizing their car. They get a steering wheel in DINAMICA microfiber, an engine with different dynamic settings, an especially set steering and a stiffer suspension.

The Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster is already available for order. The car will hit the showrooms in July.
