Passo dello Stelvio of the Italian Alps is listed as one of the 10 roads one must drive along in a lifetime. The Mercedes-AMG GT S has started its beautiful roads collection.
Exactly three months after the Mercedes-AMG GT was driven by the Mercedesblog.com editors along what Top Gear called the most beautiful world in the whole wide world, the Transfagarasan, the supercar flies straight into the clouds of the Italian Alps in a video recently released by Mercedes-Benz Italia and published by the Italian website Quattro Ruote.
The 510 HP cars swiftly and securely throw themselves – head first – into bends, coming out of them triumphantly and thundering their way to the top of the mountain. The Mercedes-AMG GT S armada floats through the rarefied air of the high elevation road. All this time, an eagle is suspiciously watching every move of the sporty AMG intruders, cyring out loud when hearing the roar of the 4.0-liter V8 and racing the cars that reach a 310 km/h maximum speed. That is the place where only eagles dare.
Passo dello Stelvio is the second highest road in Europe, with an elevation of 2757 meters, just 13 meters lower than the Col de l’Iseran in France. Where the Mercedes AMG GT S dares, is the meeting point of no less than three languages: even though it is geographically on Italian Territory, the name of the summit is mentioned in Italian, French and German.
