Former “Friends” star joins Top Gear as a co-host, BBC officially announced this past Friday. Matt LeBlanc will join forces with Chris Evans and the mysterious pro-driver Stig to bring the best latest cars on the screen.

Matt LeBlanc will join the production of Top Gear immediately and will show up on TV in May, once the new season starts. “Additional Top Gear cast members will be confirmed shortly”, BBC representatives told.

“As a car nut and massive fan of Top Gear, I am honored and excited to be a part of this iconic show’s new chapter. What a thrill!”, former Joey Tribbiani exclaimed soon after the official announcement.

This comes twenty-two years after he first joined Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt and all the others on the set of Friends. The 48-year old actor is the first non-British host of the 39-year old TV car show.

Chris Evans seems to be just as delighted that the sitcom actor joined the Top Gear cast: “Acting out our craziest car notions on screen is a dream job and I know we’ll both be debating some epic road trip ideas. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to on screen later this year.”

Three years ago, Matt LeBlanc marked a historical moment at the Top Gear TV show: he became the fastest ever celebrity to lap the famous Top Gear track. And did it with a left-hand drive car, even though the American is used to driving on the right side of the road.
