Daimler leads the Way in Climate Protection

Daimler was awarded top scores for transparency and measures to tackle climate change at the 2014 CDP Climate Leadership Award Conference in Munich, by the CDP (formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project). Daimler AG was acknowledged as the leader in its sector for the automotive industry.

The company achieved the maximum possible score of 100 in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) and it received the award for its outstanding efforts and exemplary transparency regarding the climate change. Furthermore, Daimler leads the way in climate protection and it has received the highest possible performance rating “A” for the measures that it has introduced, the progress made and the efforts for reducing the CO2 emissions.

The CDP admitted the fact that Daimler has definitely reduced the CO2 emissions of its new passenger car fleet in Europe by more than 20% to 134 g/km over the last five years. In addition to constant improvements such as the environmentally friendly generation of electricity and the efficient production that contributes to a positive balance.

By 2020, the CO2 emission from the company’s plants will be reduced by 20% compared to 1990, while sales units are expected to rise. Daimler AG publishes its entire program of targets in an annual sustainability report.

Verkehrsclub Deutschland (VCD) published a ranking and Daimler AG impressed once again, just like it did in 2012.

CDP was founded in 2000 and it is considered world’s most important authority for evaluating sustainability. Once a year, CDP gathers data on companies’ CO2 emissions climate risks, targets for reductions and environment.
