A new video from Mercedes-Benz flatters the super sleek lines of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe, the automobile that the Stuttgart grand brand defines as design and innovation at its best. The car was first introduce at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014.
The high-performance aerodynamics of the coupe is not proved in a wind tunnel this time, but in one dug into the Alps. A trip along steep tight corners is easy mission for the S-Class Coupe, as it comes with the standard Airmatic suspension, while Magic Body Control, with the world’s first curve tilting function, is optional. Thanks to the standardly fit Airmatic suspension, the sporty classy coupe goes 10 mm lower than the limousine. At high speed, the vehicle is lowered by extra 10 mm, for an extra racing feeling.
Speaking of which, the S-Class Coupe comes with two different power versions: the 4.7 liter V8 biturbo with 455 HP and 700 Nm in the S 500, running the 0-100 km/h distance in just 4.6 seconds, and the 5.5 liter V8 biturbo with 585 HP and 900 Nm in the high-performance S 63 AMG Coupe, that’s pretty much a blink-and-you’ll-miss it vehicle: it does the 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3,9 seconds.
If your attention has been drawn to the headlights of the car, you’re right to stare: there are 43 LEDs in each headlamp. A total of 450 LED lights found room in the luxury coupe crafted in Stuttgart. Each taillight shelters other 39 LEDs on each tail light and inside the car there are almost 300 others.
Challenged along what Top Gear called the most beautiful road in the world, the Romanian Transfagarasean, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe turned out to be – as claimed – the quietest car in the world, together with the S-Class limousine, even at speeds exceeding 180 km/h. You can take our word for it, since we tested it this past fall. Check it out right here!
