Mercedes-Benz has set out its plan for 2020. The E-Class family will be growing with the coupe versions and their AMG siblings, while the S-Class limousine is set to hit the market next winter. The list of market launches also confirms what fans have been dreaming of for years: the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.
There have been a busy fall and winter for Mercedes-Benz, sending onto the road GLE Coupe, the AMG GLE 63 Coupe, the AMG GLA 35 and the extravagant Mercedes-Maybach GLS.
But the German premium car maker is expected to keep up the pace, because there are plenty of models to be revealed and introduced into the market in the upcoming months.
The fans of the E-Class range should expect to see the sedan, the estate, the Coupe and Cabriolet, together with the AMG E 53 Coupe and Cabriolet in the upcoming fall. The E family will get a mild-hybrid tech and new ground-breaking self-driving features.
The GLA, introduced this past December, will hit the showrooms this spring and the AMG GLA 35 variant is to follow suite. Its more potent sibling, powered by the most powerful 4-cylinder engine that ever made it to series production, that also powers the Mercedes-AMG A 45, will operate under the bonnet of the GLA.
The S-Class limousine, together with its long-wheelbase variant, already caught testing by the spy photographers, both on public roads and on the racetrack, will have their market long next winter.
The plug-in hybrid version of the AMG GT 4-door coupe is also expected then, with a 4.0-liter V8 in conjunction with an electric motor, that will make it a rival for the current Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid, that features 680 horsepower. The electrified model has already been teased during the Christmas holiday, with an EV button on display.
And the list keeps best for last, confirming the long-awaited arrival of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series. Being the extreme AMG that it is expected to be, the Black Series should benefit from the presence of more than 800 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque, making the car run from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3.0 seconds.
