And off to school in an electric bus! This is what pupils may say in the state of Virginia, as the local authorities have just purchased 50 such means of transportation.

Thomas Built Buses, the Daimler Trucks subsidiary in North America, was designated to supply the state of Virginia with 50 fully electric buses. The vehicles are zero-emission versions of the iconic black and yellow school buses. By using alternative propulsion, local authorities hope to reduce the ever growing pollution figures.

It is only the first stage of a program initiated by a power company based in the American state. Dominion Energy plans to switch 1,050 of the school buses in the state from diesel to electric power only. The order won by the American Daimler Trucks is the largest order to date for electric school buses in the United States of America.
