Ola Källenius and Winfried Kretschmann, accompanied by the CEO of Volocopter GmbH, Florian Reuter, were among the first to test the Volocopter.

“Our partner Volocopter shows how an air taxi is turning the dream of driving into the dream of flying. At Daimler we work on the mobility of the future too. By 2022 we will have electrified the entire Mercedes-Benz portfolio. Our goal is that electrically powered cars will account for more than half of our sales by 2030”, Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, reveals.

“Vision Smart City – Experience future mobility today” is the event that takes place as part of an initiative of a research project by the Technical University of Stuttgart to examine the social acceptance of air taxis. Thousands of guests came to watch the air taxi take off vertically, without the necessity of a special runway, and fly around the building of the museum.

Daimler and Volocopter joined forces in 2017. Preliminary tests of the flying taxi were carried out in the United Arab Emirates, around Dubai.
