The 91 Freeway in Anaheim, California, was closed for more than an hour due to a police pursuit trying to catch the driver of a Mercedes-Benz CLS, who was the suspect of a murder attempt, taking place days before.

The chase had began around 6 p.m. in Compton. The authorities eventually managed to catch him afer firing tear gas into the black Mercedes, through the open panoramic roof, and took the driver into custody, shortly after 9:40 p.m. last Thursday.  With thousands of stranded divers, both directions of the 91 Freeway were reopened 20 minutes later, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Aerial TV images show police vehicles chasing the Mercedes, as the suspect tries to go between cars blocked in the traffic jam, slightly touching some of them, scratching the left side of the Benz when repetitively hitting the guardrail and eventually being stopped and surround by police and by the SWAT Team specialized in „rapid response”, deployed by the Anaheim Police Department. The California Highway Patrol even used spike strips to flatten the vehicle’ tyres, so this is how the 4-door coupe ended up running on rims with sparks spread from its wheels.

Later on, reports showed that he smashed into no less than six cars. Luckily, no one was injured in the chase through three counties. The suspect was described as highly dangerous.
