The Mercedes-Benz GLB shows up in the latest and probably last teaser before its official debut scheduled to take place in a few hours in the Utah, USA. It is the first compact SUV of the starred premium company capable of transporting seven people.
The curtain is expected to drop soon and reveal the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLB, following the endless series of photo and video teasers. The latest teaser sets the model in a mountainous landscape, running along what seems to be a gravel surface, an aspect confirming its off-road capabilities.
The high-ride vehicle will borrow the engine range from the avant-garde model of the compact family, the A-Class, introduced last year. It is also set to get the interior layout, with the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, based on artificial intelligence, with the information shown on the two 10.25-inch dual screens in the top variant.
In terms of looks, the future GLB should follow the lines drawn by the concept that was shown in Shanghai this past April, sporting an off-roader-typical rugged image, plastic cladding on the wings above the wheels, boxy proportions and squared-off headlights with LED technology.
A GLB 35 with the AMG DNA, powered by the company’s 2.0-liter turbo engine, is also in the pipeline, but the GLB 45, that would get the most powerful 4-cylinder turbo engine ever built for a series production model, is still in doubt. Mercedes though, has confirmed the arrival of an electric variant, some time next year, as a member of the zero-emission EQ family.
The new GLB SUV will make its first motor show appearance in Frankfurt, Germany, this upcoming fall, and it is set to hit the showrooms worldwide in winter.
Stay tuned! We’re bringing you the latest details and photos as soon as the new SUV is out!
