The new Mercedes-AMG A 45 has made its way to the Frankfurt Motor Show. The aggressively-styled hot hatch sets new benchmarks in the segment of high-performance compact cars.
Mercedes-AMG took its brand-new A 45 to Frankfurt for a showoff. For the first time, the A-Class family receives an S version, making its way to the top of the range. It is powered by the world’s most powerful 4-cylinder engine. The 2.0-liter unit develops 421 horsepower for the S model and 387 horsepower for the standard version.
The engine is connected to an 8-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission with double clutch that delivers the power to all four wheels via the fully variable 4MATIC + drive. The A 45 S flashes from a stanstill to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, reaching an electronically-limited top speed of 270 km/h. It takes the non-S model 4 seconds for the same run, while its top speed stops at 250 km/h.
As standard, all models are equipped with the Race Start function that allows maximum acceleration from a standstill. The options list includes an AMG Track Pace function, specifically designed for an exhilarating experience on the race track.
