Road and Track magazine organized its very own German crossover shootout featuring the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG, Audi SQ5 and Porsche Macan.
They all have their strong spots but they’re not flawless. At least this is what Road and Track magazine discovered after taking these three performance crossovers for a extended spin around mountain roads and dirt paths.
Although the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG looks like it came from another world in comparison the Audi SQ5 and the Porsche Macan, the German crossover impressed the guys at R&T. They concluded that “juvenile might not be what we expect from a Mercedes, but having fun is the whole point of driving a hot hatch.”
His other roadtrip companions, the SQ5 and the Macan were also praised in the process. “The smooth and supple Audi SQ5 does exactly what you ask of it, but it’s less hot hatch, more Q5 crossover with a ton of horsepower.”
However, it was only after driving Porsche’s newest vehicle that a proper conclusion could be drawn, and this speaks about all three cars: “so insanely capable that you’ll barely scratch the surface of their capabilities.”
If you want to find out more about this “five-door fury”, as the R&T guys put in, we encourage you read the full review available on roadandtrack.com.
