Mercedes has announced that the Mercedes Vision EQXX concept will debut on January 3, 2022 and will have a range of more than 1000 km thanks to a consumption of less than 10 kWh / 100 km.
In a linkedin post you see below, Markus Schafer, COO Mercedes-Benz announced that the Mercedes Vision EQXX concept will debut on January 3, will have a range of more than 1000 km possible due to a very low consumption of less than 10 kWh / 100 km.
The post is accompanied by a teaser and Schafer mentions for the first time that Mercedes Vision EQXX is a compact model.
Achieving consumption below 10 kWh at normal highway speeds is a very ambitious goal. For example, currently one of the most economical electric models, the BMW i3, can consume around 11 kWh/100 km. But it is a very light car due to the expensive construction made of CFRP.
Therefore, the Mercedes EQXX will have to excel in many respects and have excellent aerodynamics. In this sense, Markus Schafer says in his post that the Mercedes Vision EQXX will have a Cx below the sensational value of 0.20 obtained by EQS.
Schafer also promises that the EQXX’s batteries will have a 20% higher energy density than the current Mercedes EQS.
Schafer does not give any details about the propulsion but says that the specialists from Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains were also involved in the development of the concept.
