RENNTech Put a 7.6-Liter V12 in a 1992 Mercedes-Benz 600 SEL

RENNTech has just finished an impressive project. The company worked on a 1992 Mercedes-Benz 600 SEL. And it is all about the massive 7.6-liter V12 that it put under its hood.

The 7.6-liter M120 V12, codenamed S76R, is the most powerful naturally aspirated V12 that RENNTech ever built. It is also the largest displacement ever used on a Mercedes-Benz M120 power plant that rolled off the assembly line back in 1992 as a 6.0-liter V12.

The unit delivers 615 PS (607 HP) at 5,500 rpm and 952 Nm (703 pound-feet) straight to the rear axle. They also fitted a Performance Tune Exhaust with stainless steel exhaust pipes with quad mufflers and sport catalytic converters, for a spectacular soundtrack on the road. The German tuner replaced the standard four-speed automatic with a five-speed transmission and put in OS Giken limited slip differential.

The heavily modified W140 can now make its way from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in around 5 seconds. The speedometer needle stops at around 250 km/h (155 mph).

And of course, the one-of-one car needed high-performance braking to match the extra power that it received. The Mercedes-Benz 600 SEL got bespoke AMG carbon ceramic disc brakes, 402 millimeters at the front and 360 millimeters at the rear. The car now rides on 19-inch RENNTech Classic Series one-of-a-kind forged wheels.

The company also made the looks of the car match the power that it got. Therefore, there are what they call AMG Ground Effects all around. The trunk lip spoiler and the custom front splitter, plus louvered side moldings are part of the plan.

They developed special black leather upholstery with contrasting red stitching for this model and made room for carbon fiber trims on board, plus a modern sound system with iPhone integration. Fully-adjustable seats replaced the rear bench. Just right for a 30-year old Mercedes-Benz, isn’t it?
