Mercedes revealed the first official photos with the pre-production model of the future Mercedes SL 2021 which is being developed by the Mercedes-AMG division.
The Mercedes press release is very short and only announces that the tests have started with the future Mercedes SL, which is being developed by the Mercedes-AMG division, as we announced a few months ago.
Mercedes informs that the tests are carried out both on its own race track in Immendingen and on public roads.
Although Mercedes does not give any details, the first camouflaged photos confirm that the future Mercedes SL 2021 returns to the softtop roof as we also announced.
From the photos, however, the car looks very compact and it remains to be seen whether it will offer a 2 + 2 seat configuration to compete with the Porsche 911 Convertible as was speculated in the press.
From the first photos you can see the slim silhouette, the aileron profiled in the trunk lid and the thin taillights while in front it attracts the attention with the new grille and the elongated headlights that come down to the radiator grille.
Being a model developed by AMG, it will receive only top engines: AMG SL 53 with 3 liter 6 cylinders in line and 435 HP mild hybrid with ISG integrated (22 HP and 250 Nm) and electric compressor and AMG SL 63/SL 63 S powered by the 4.0 liter V8 bi-turbo with over 600 HP.
A SL 65 AMG with a V12 engine will not be offered anymore.
