10. Mercedes-Benz E 60 AMG – 147 units, 1994

The Mercedes-Benz E60 AMG a.k.a. “The Hammer” crushed its Bavarian counterpart back in the 90’s. Built in very limited numbers between 1994 and 1995, it offered supercar credentials packed in the body of a limo. True, not a regular run-of-the-mill saloon, but a quite devilish looking creature.

Compared to the E 500 it was based on, the E60 AMG came with bigger flared front and rear wheel arches. From the 10,479 E 500 units built until 1995, only 147 units were the Mercedes E 60 AMG, easily recognizable thanks to the “957 ” digits included in their VIN number.

Finished off with large AMG wheels and graced by an equally monstrous 6.0L V8 engine, “The Hammer” offered 381 HP and could reach 0-100 km/h within 5.3 seconds. The E 60 AMG has a fabulous in-gear acceleration from 60 to 120 km/h. The enormous 480 Nm torque offers a fantastic pulling power.

Many of the E 60 AMGs seen today are actually 500 Es and E 500s (the name of the model after the facelift) sent subsequently to the AMG factory in order to have the engine changed into the 6.0L V8.
