This 50-year old Mercedes-Benz W114 will be for sale in Poland. It is proof the build quality that the German carmaker used in its cars. Back then, there were no recalls.
The Mercedes-Benz W114 was the internal code for the front-engine, rear-wheel drive, five-passenger sedans. So this is a good way to start the description of this model designed by Paul Bracq. A predecessor of the E-Class sedan, it started rolling off the assembly line in 1968, succeeding the legendary w11models from the early 1960s. It remained in production until 1976, when the W123 took its place.
It featured a six-cylinder engine and the boot lid displayed either 230, 250 and 280. And it was the first post-war model to receive a newly developed suspension.
A lot of chrome, a massive chrome grille included, vertically positioned headlights, the now-famous greenhouse defined the elegant design.
Such a mi-size sedan is listed on KlaskaGantuku.pl and posted on Carscoops had a single owner for all these years. It has 145,000 kilometers on the odometer (little over 90,000 miles). There is a whole pack of documentation revealing detailed service and maintenance facts. The add claims that it still “needs work”. But the photos show a car that is in great condition considering its age. There is no trace of wear and tear on board. Furthermore, no photo shows any dent or scratch on the dark blue body paint.
The model sports a sunroof and a fabric-leather combo upholstery in beige.
The 230 badge hints at a 2.3-liter six-cylinder petrol engine that transfers resources towards the rear axle via an automatic transmission.
Famous for durability and reliability, the Mercedes-Benz W114 also has a reputation of outliving its owners. We don’t know if that’s the case. But for sure, the next one to take this sedan into his garage will have a long-term relationship with an iconic car.
