Mercedes-Benz sales: The premium car maker has already sold over 1,715,000 vehicles worldwide in 2018 and over 202,800 units this past September. The stringent WLTP certification process took sales figues down by 8.2% compared to the same period of 2017.
There were 202,819 cars with the star delivered to customers all over the world in September, reaching 1,715,087 units this year. 526,255 vehicles reached their new owners in the third quarter of the year.
It was a rough month for the company that managed to certify its entire range for Europe in compliance with the new WLTP standard, in force since September 1st. Sales were though affected by delays in certification in some international markets.
Mercedes sales July 2018: an all time record of 1,356,350 units
In a highly competitive environment, the brand with the three-pointed star maintained its market leadership as the premium brand with the highest number of new registrations in September in the markets UK, Italy, France, Russia, Switzerland, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey, Japan, Australia, the USA and Mexico, among others.
91,609 remained in Europe in September, going as high as 688,956 units this year to date. Germany accounted for 22,780 units last month and 217,943 from January to September. More cars than ever before in the first nine months of 2019 were sent to Spain, Sweden, Poland, Denmark and Hungary.
63rd consecutive sales record for Mercedes-Benz in May
The Asia-Pacific region got 714,598 vehicles in the first nine months (+8.1%), with 75,414 of them in September. The biggest market, China, marked a new record in September, with 54,632 cars (+6.9%). Thailand and Malaysia also pointed record sales from this year.
The NAFTA region stopped at 31,273 vehicles delivered. 26,169 of them went to the United States, taking the number for the first nine months of 2019 at 225,384 units, while Mexico boasts a new record.
SUVs confirm the world’s trend and set a new sales record for 2019, with 612,186 customers ordering a high-ride vehicle. The GLC was the most popular, marking a +9.1% increase. Mercedes-Benz sold more than 1.6 million mid-size SUVs worldwide over the past ten years.
The S-Class also pointed a 24% growth. 500 units made it to China every month for the first nine of the year.
The A-Class, B-Class, CLA, CLA Shooting Brake and GLA reached a figure of 441,660 units, with the forerunner of the compact class, the A-Class, setting a new record in September.
