The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive is as exclusive as its Green Electric paintwork is eye-damaging. The car maker only built 100 of them. That is why the existing ones sometimes sell for double the price they sold years ago.

One of the 100 Mercedes-Benz SLS Electric Drive units is now for sale through RM Sotheby’s private sales website.

Mercedes unveiled the model in 2012 at the Paris Motor Show. Deliveries started the following year. Back then, there was no fascination with the electric cars. So the back-then new SLS Electric Drive was quite special. It was also very hard to get one. Not only the low numbers Mercedes-Benz produced it in were the issue. But it was also very expensive. It started at over €400,000. No surprise the premium car maker did not roll out more such units.

The model that is now for sale arrived in Switzerland when new. But it currently “lives” in Netherlands. The owner never drove it much. The odometer shows 3,800 kilometers or 2,361 miles. The last time it was serviced was in May 2018, at 2,297 kilometers or 1,427 miles. It comes with the all necessary invoices to prove that the owner has taken good care of it in Mercedes-Benz authorized service centers.

Green Electric exterior paint builds up an interesting contrast with the black-finish wheels and the all-black leather interior.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive – How much does it drive, how much does it cost?

There are four electric motors that power the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive. Together they deliver 740 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. Each of the units can rev at up to 13,000 rpm. And each weighs just 45 kilograms. A 60 kWh lithium-ion battery stores enough energy for 250 kilometers.

When Mercedes launched the car, its price was quite discouraging. €416,000 euros. Today, RM Sotheby’s sells it for €1,050,000.
