Mercedes V-Class is next to B-Class the only Mercedes model that did not benefit from an AMG engine. But the GAD Motors tuner placed the well-known M177 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo AMG engine under the hood of the V-Class. See what came out.
The former generation Mercedes V-Class also had V6 engines but the new model gave up the big engines and offers only three 4-cylinder diesels. It should be mentioned, however, that the new 239 HP V 300 d diesel biturbo engine is more economical and more powerful than the former 3-liter V6 diesel with 224 HP. Currently, the V-Class no longer has gasoline engines. To be honest, diesel is much better suited for long trips for which this wheeled lounge is intended.
However, there are some who would like to go faster with a V-Class. That’s why the GAD Motors tuner thought of transplanting the well-known M177 4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine into the V-Class. Certainly this was not easy because there is not much space under the hood.
According to the logic of naming Mercedes models, this super V-Class should have been called the Mercedes-AMG V63. But the powerful V-Class is very discreet on the outside. You only recognize it by the AMG badge, by the new rims and by the fact that it has a lower ground clearance.
Underneath, however, the changes are more substantial: firmer and lower suspension, new exhaust and ceramic brakes to safely stop the 585 HP super van. But the interior is identical to the one from the series model. To demonstrate the performance of this V-Class powered by the AMG engine, GAD Motors took it to Zweibrucken Airport in Germany for a drag race against the BMW M5, Mercedes-AMG GT, Mclaren 720 S and Chervolet Corvette C6.
