Just one day left to go. We have been waiting for the Mercedes-Benz GLC for so long and Mercedes-Benz is making the wait even harder. They have released a teaser photo of the vehicle that will be replacing the GLK and that will be revealed in all its glory in less than two days.
June, 17 is the day we have been waiting for. And there is just one more day and two more nights to go. Ahead of its first official display, we must settle for a sketch. Together with all the spy shots and test drives with the car wrapped up in body masks or barely there camouflage, we can get a pretty good idea of what this new Mercedes SUV is going to look like. But the GLC in the sketch is probably featuring oversized wheels and some exaggerated high ride that we will not be seeing on Wednesday.

The switch to the GLC naming is part of Mercedes’ new naming strategy, with the C in the end clearly showing that the new SUV belongs to the C-Class lineup. To certify it even more, the new GLC will be sharing the flexible MRA platform with the sedan. The people in Stuttgart have also confirmed that the GLC will be offered with the Air Body Control suspension system. Autocar UK claims there will be two transmission options, set to include either 7- or 9-speed automatic gearboxes, but with no chance for a manual transmission. Mercedes will be offering though both right hand and left hand drive.
On Wednesday, the Stuttgart grand brand is probably going to display the standard GLC, with a range of 4- and 6-cylinder engines, both in diesel and petrol formats, together with a sporty AMG Sport version featuring a V6, as well as s GLC350 plug-in hybrid variant, combining a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, offering an electric range of about 30 kilometers. But we’ll just have to wait and see.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC will take on premium mid-size rivals like the Audi Q5, the BMW X3 or the Lexus RX. The new SUV will be hitting showrooms by the end of 2015 or beginning of 2016. A formal presentation is set to be taking place at the Frankfurt Motor Show this upcoming September.
