100 Mercedes-Benz gull-wing models, all in one place. We must be dreaming. And still, dreams come true starting today, at the Mercedes-Benz Museum, as the venue will host the annual meeting of the 300 SL Club e.

Approximately 100 cars are expected to make an appearance on Saturday, on the museum hill. It will probably go down in history as the most expensive parking lot ever, as visitors will have the chance to witness the rare parade of dream cars in the mornings and afternoons. Their ears will detect the sophisticated sound orchestra of the 300 SLs made in the 1950s, one of the most beautiful and famous automobiles ever built by the luxury brand.

It is the 38th edition of the international gathering. This is also the departure point for day trips in the local region. Worldwide there are some 80 Brand Clubs officially recognised by Mercedes-Benz, with around 100,000 members. The brand’s division Mercedes-Benz Classic honours and supports their work through the professional Club Management and provides services such as establishing important contacts for workshops, replacement parts supplies, vehicle trade and the Mercedes-Benz Classic archive.

There are approximately 300 members in the exclusive Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Club e. V., that is celebrating its 40th anniversary next year. The lucky owners of the motorized gems are linked by their passion for the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL ‘Gull-wing’ (W 198, 1954 to 1957) and 300 SL Roadster (W 198 II, 1957 to 1963) sports cars.

The open-top variant is celebrating its 60th birthday in 2017. The sportiness in the genes of the Mercedes-Benz brand is confirmed by the models being closely related to the 300 SL racing car from the model series W 194, that made history in motorsport in 1952.
