The new Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC Saloon is here, to redefine the compact premium segment of high-performance sedans, offering top performance with no compromise on the practical aspect.
The compact sedan is following in the footsteps of the hot hatch revealed last fall and is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine with 306 horsepower, connected to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G dual-clutch transmission and to a variable AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The exhaust system is equipped with a flap that automatically controls the soundtrack produced by the engine, depending on the driving mode selected via the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT (Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ or Individual).
Test drive Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC – Less is more
It takes 4.8 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill and it reaches a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited).
Just as the standard variant introduced last summer, the four-door saloon comes with a generous wheelbase of 2729 mm and short overhangs, confirming its dynamical nature. The radiator grille sports twin louvers, the AMG Line front apron gets flics on the air intakes. From the side, the AMG Line side sill panels and the 18-inch alloy wheels (19-inch as an option), catch the eye, while at the rear, the two-part tail lamps and the new diffuser insert highlight the width of the car. The spoiler lip on the boot lid and the two round tailpipe trims laterally positioned magnetize from the rear.
OFFICIAL – The new A-Class Sedan is the newborn of the compact family
The boot receives 420 liters of luggage and may be accessed with no hands if the KEYLESS GO comfort package is ordered.
The car also gets the MBUX multimedia system, that made its debut with the new A-Class, based on artificial intelligence, with the two displays united under the cover glass bending into the Widescreen Cockpit. The system is activated with the words “Hey Mercedes”.
The driver can choose one of the three display modes of the instrument cluster, with the Supersport mode being the most spectacular of them all. The driver can thus get the Warm-up, Set-up, G-Force and Engine Data view settings. The AMG TRACK PACE function is also optionally available. The center console hosts the touchpad and additional switches for operating ESP® , manual transmission mode and adaptive adjustable damping (optional).
The sporty feeling is enhanced by the seats covered in ARTICO man-made leather with DINAMICA microfibre in black with red contrasting topstitching and red seat belts or in ARTICO man-made leather in black/neva grey.
The AMG suspension is standard equipment, while the future owner may tick the box for the AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adaptive adjustable damping. A high-performance braking system with 4-piston monoblock fixed calipers and 350-millimeter brake discs on the front axle and 1-piston sliding calipers and 330-millimeter calipers at the rear stop the 306-horsepower new AMG.
