The production of the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé starts in Sindelfingen. The super-sedan joins the running production operations in Building 36.

The manufacturing of the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé in Sindelfingen was established by the works council and it is part of a transformation plan of the production facility that started four years ago. Daimler is set to invest approximately 1.5 billion Euros in the production center in Sindelfingen by 2020, with another 600 million Euros going into research and development.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé is the third sports car that will roll off the assembly lines off the Affalterbach power house, following the SLS AMG and the AMG GT. The new vehicle though is the first four-door AMG GT model that sees the light of day, representing the ideal mix between the comfort provided by cars that one can drive every day and the supercar that one takes to the racetrack.

Powered by the company’s famous 4.0-liter V8 biturbo, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé hits a top speed of 315 km/h.

There are various other top models being built at the Sindelfingen plant. The S-Class luxury sedan, coupe and convertible and the E-Class sedan and estate, together with CLS, the Maybach and the hAMG GT models are being manufactured there.

In the near future, the car plant will steer towards the production of the electric vehicles as well, as the new EQ sub-brand is developing. The first member of the EQ family, the Mercedes-Benz EQC, has already been officially introduced.

More than 25,000 people work in Sindelfingen, as the plant delivers approximately 250 vehicles per day.
