Based on the Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6, Brabus has developed super off-roaders: the Brabus XLP 800 6×6 Adventure with 800 ps/1000 Nm (788 hp/737 lb-ft) and the Brabus XLP 900 6×6 Superblack with 900 ps/1250 Nm (887 hp/922 lb-ft), both costing well over 1 million euro ($1.1 million).

In 2014, Mercedes impressed off-road fans with the limited edition Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6 which at the time cost around 500,000 euro ($550,000). The Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6 was equipped with the old 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 developing 544 ps/536 hp and 760 Nm/560 lb-ft. Due to the portal axles and off-road tyres, the top speed was limited to 160 kph/99 mph.
Now, Brabus comes to the rescue of those who want a more powerful and faster Mercedes G-Class 6×6. The German tuner offers two versions of the G-Class 6×6, one more powerful than the other.
The first of them is called the Brabus XLP 800 6×6 Adventure which has the well-known 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet developing 800 ps/788 hp and generating a maximum torque of 1000 Nm/737 lb-ft. The 6.23 meter (245 in)-long model with all-wheel drive on all six wheels and three portal axles reach 100 kph/62 mph in just 5.8 seconds.
Power of 800 ps/788 hp is achieved at 6,600 rpm and maximum torque of 1000 Nm/737 lb-ft is available from 3,600 rpm. To accommodate the second rear axle, Bottrop engineers have lengthened the ladder frame and developed a steel frame on which all four rear wheels rest. Brabus says this frame has the same rigidity as the production model with a single rear axle.
Thanks to the portal axles, the ground clearance is 473 mm/18.6 in, 13 mm/0,5 in higher than the original Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6. Brabus states that all three portal axles were developed from scratch, reinforced the two rear axle housings, and modified the steering.
All suspension arms were painted red to stand out. The gigantic off-roader has a huge price tag of 1,309,000 euro ($1,460,360), almost three times more expensive than the Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6. But the top speed is also much higher, at 210 kph (130 mph) compared to 160 kph (99 mph)on the original model despite the presence of off-road tyres.
Like the G63 AMG 6×6, the Brabus XLP 800 6×6 Adventure is equipped with a compressor on each of the six wheels that allows for example to reduce tyre pressure when driving through sand.New to the XLP800 is an engine sound system that features flaps on the exhaust path that open or close depending on the chosen driving mode, changing the pitch of the exhaust sound. Also, the exhaust pipes are placed on the side as on the G 63 AMG 6×6.
The second model, the Brabus XLP 900 6×6 Superblack, is slightly shorter, at 6.18 meters (243 in) long. It features a partially transparent hood called “Powerview” by Brabus through which the modified V8 monster can be seen.
In the Brabus XLP 900 Superblack works the twin-turbo V8 engine from the Rocket 900 whose displacement has been increased by Brabus from 4 to 4.4 litres. It develops 900 ps/887 hp and a theoretical maximum torque of 1250 Nm/922 lb-ft, which has been limited to 1050 Nm/774 lb-ft.
To cope with this huge torque, Brabus used special forged pistons, high-performance connecting rods, and a new crankshaft. This version accelerates from 0 to 100 kph/62 mph in just 5.2 seconds and top speed is electronically limited to 210 kph/130 mph. The price of the Brabus XLP900 SuperBlack is 1,411,340 euro ($1,554,344).
Both models feature heavily flared wheel arches to make room for the huge 22-inch wheels and are equipped with LEDs mounted in the wheel arches to illuminate the side stairs, which helps access the car at night. Optional 90-degree opening doors are offered.
